Like most people, my first reaction to someone travelling to a region of the world collectively known as the Balkans was 'but, why?' Little did I (and most people I know) know is that the Balkans are in fact beautiful. They've been hiding in the underrated section of the world's encyclopaedia for far too long.

 

Wrongly considered as 'dangerous', 'sketchy' and somewhat 'third-world', the countries of Bosnia & Herzegovina, Montenegro and Macedonia, are often avoided by many people. But i'm here to let you know that some of these countries have been the most incredible trips I have had to date and you should 100% add them to your future travels. 

 

Even if for no other reason than their nature. When it comes to natural beauty, the Balkans will absolutely knock your socks off. From the stunning waterfalls of Bosnia & Herzegovina, to the white sand beaches of the Albanian Riviera, the craggy mountains of Montenegro and the beautiful lakes in Croatia and Macedonia, there will be something in the Balkans for you.
